Position Overview
Gaston Community Church (GCC) is a dynamic, Christ-centered church located in Gastonia, North Carolina. We are looking for an enthusiastic person to become an Associate Pastor and join our team and support our mission of engaging and equipping our congregation for impactful ministry. In this role, you will primarily focus on creating and nurturing ministries that connect with young adults and families, with an emphasis on reaching unchurched individuals in our community.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee Community Engagement and proactively connect with young adults and families in the community, sharing the gospel and fostering spiritual growth.
  • Launch and lead Small Group Bible studies for young families, emphasizing outreach to unchurched individuals.
  • Equip and involve our congregation in supporting ministries for infants and children.
  • Design and lead ministries for young adults and families, including children and teens, to build meaningful relationships.
  • Develop and integrate youth-oriented activities and encourage teen participation in children’s ministry initiatives.
  • Plan and execute outreach programs that demonstrate Jesus' love to our community.
  • Organize events such as local VBS and weekend missions to engage unchurched community members.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Pastor to train and inspire members to share the gospel with unbelievers and the unchurched, with a focus on young adults and families.
  • Support the Senior Pastor by preaching at least once a month and participating in various teaching capacities, including small groups.
  • Actively participate in Sunday morning worship services, assisting with different aspects of the order of worship when not preaching.
  • Meet weekly with the Senior Pastor for prayer, planning, and mutual encouragement.
  • Maintain a weekly record of ministry hours and submit monthly reports to the Session.
  • Attend monthly meetings of the joint Elders and Deacons, as well as the monthly Session meeting.

Spiritual Qualifications
  • Committed follower of Jesus Christ who upholds the Bible as the inspired Word of God.
  • Meets the biblical qualifications for leadership outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
  • Proven experience in evangelism and communicating with unbelievers and the unchurched.
  • Passionate about people of all ages, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Upholds the doctrinal standards of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, as expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required, with an M.Div. or nearing completion of the M.Div. degree.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required.
  • Expected to live in southeastern Gaston County or plans to relocate to area
