Kristen Meek sent this to me last night. More people participated in the Day of Prayer and Fasting yesterday than I expected. When I received this from Kristen, it gave me such a spiritual boost, that I asked her this morning (Thursday) if I could share it with you, and she said that would be okay. Be encouraged by this to keep diligently seeking the Lord this month with the rest of us at Gaston Community Church .
FROM KRISTEN, Reflecting on the Day of Prayer and Fasting on Wednesday:
“I fasted today during my lunch break. It was amazing how God stopped my hunger. See how worldly I am? I have never fasted before. So this was new to me. What I thought about this morning was HUNGER. But not HUNGER for my KING. Hunger from not eating food. Well God settled my longing for food and helped me to focus on Him today as I sat in my dim-lit room at Oakridge Middle. I enjoyed spending that time in prayer and just being still enough to seek Him.
I prayed over scripture. One verse that really spoke to me was Jeremiah 29: 13-14: "You will seek me and find me. When you seek me with ALL your heart, I will be found by you."
God wants ALL of my heart. Not just a little here and a little there. How simple it is, yet so hard to do. I just have to seek him. Seek him and He will find me. God is always near just waiting for me to seek Him. How selfish I am, BUT He still loves me!!!
A coworker of mine is doing this too. I told her about it. She is one of the ladies I meet with on Monday mornings for devotions. She had given me a copy of Bible verses that she was going to read and pray about. I didn't look at hers until after I had my quiet time with God. Then I looked at her verses.
She had Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord". In order for me.... In order for Gaston Community to know the plans God has for us, we must seek him with all our hearts. Thank you for leading our church to do just that. I am excited to see how God is going to work and move His people!!!”
Together in Christ,
Kristen
